A traditional downlight consumes 60 Watts* of energy, where LED downlights consume as little as11 Watts and may last up to 50,000 run hours. That’s equivelant to over 30 years, if used for 4 hours a day.
Previously LED lights struggled in the marketplace, as their brightness was lower than traditional downlights. This is no longer the case, with LED lights now offering comparable brightness.
*(Watts is used as a loose term for a Watt Hour. So, when we refer to a 60 Watt bulb, this bulb will consume 60 Watts of electricity every hour it is running.)
